Planning Ahead
Whether your trip is in 3 months or 1 year, planning ahead will set you up for success. Getting the logistics squared away will make your life easier when finding a hotel, resort, or Airbnb to stay at. Keep in mind that lodging and airline tickets are the first things to book up quickly, so buy those first!
Next, you will want to figure out which Disney Park(s) you plan to visit. Pricing is typically more expensive around the holidays. We paid around $170 for Magic Kingdom tickets in early December 2024. Part of the added cost is the time of year and the work it takes to set up all of the beautiful Christmas decorations! So, choose based on your budget and how you want to experience Disney!
Planning ahead for where your kids will sleep, if you need to rent car seats, and what things will keep your kiddos occupied will save you some headaches!
One recommendation if you can afford it, would be to stay at a Disney Resort. There will be less driving and means of transportation to get to the theme parks this way. We stayed offsite and had to drive, park, take a tram, then ferry or monorail, and then arrive at the park of our choice. When you stay within a Disney Resort, you can take a bus straight to the monorail or ferry. Two fewer stops on your way to the place where dreams come true isn’t a bad thing, especially with kiddos and strollers to think of!
Here’s one people don’t pay attention to: do NOT bring a wagon. Only strollers are allowed in Disney Parks. I saw so many people having to leave their wagons and belongings at the gate, hopeful to return to them at the end of the day. Play it safe and invest in a double or single stroller!
My kids love a good, busy activity, so I’ve got some of those here for you to add to your cart! We also packed some toys to keep the kids happy at the resort. Things like magnetic tiles and their favorite stuffed animals are just a few we packed. Think of things that will save you on the ride there and back as well!
Snackers will snack, so make sure you’re ready with the best compartments and containers for your snacking needs. Maybe you’re staying for 7-10 days, and you need to plan a grocery run when you get there. Make sure to plan your budget accordingly. My stomach and I would NOT advise eating out the whole trip. Buying Early
One of the best things we did was to watch for deals as they rolled out. Amazon has great lightning deals we took advantage of, as well as Amazon deal days!
Another reason to buy early is that your items arrive in time for your trip! Nothing worse than being like me and not planning for the holiday mail and shipping delays. Oops! So get started when you see those deals to get the most bang for your buck!
Food can be pricey in Disney Parks, but we definitely indulged. Let’s be real… the corn dogs at Sleepy Hollow are a must! Did they put in new oil before dropping each of those bad boys?! I was in fried food heaven! However, if you are like us and like to indulge a little while saving, eat before or pack a meal with you. We made Chicken Alfredo before heading back for the fireworks and packed it in the diaper bag with plastic forks. even saw people with small coolers holding sandwiches and snacks. It doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg, so plan a grocery run and pack a meal for your day of fun!
