First… Happy New Year! This year will be a year of victory, goal crushing, and freedom. I hope your new year’s resolutions and goals are in full swing by now! If you’ve already fallen off of the discipline train, you are not alone sister. The important thing is to hop back on and keep pushing towards those goals! Something that has helped me stay on track with swinging at my goals is speaking over them. Let’s dive in!
This topic is near and dear to my heart. My husband and I believe in the power of the words that leave our lips and what it does to those around us but more importantly what it does within us and for us. Before we had our sweet girl in 2020, we spoke everything down to the specifics of her personality and health. When she was born, a healthy baby girl with no abnormalities, defects, and conditions, we knew our words had worked especially after the delivery and birth experience we had with her. God came through and made sure my sweet girl was healthy and full of personality the moment she took that first breathe. On to my second example… My husband and I have a girl and twin boys which we had names for before they were ever born. We spoke that we would have three children, a girl and two boys, two of which would be twins. What I’m getting at is our words have so much power over us. We can speak joy and life over ourselves or we can speak defeat and death over our lives. Let’s be real, no one likes a negative Nancy. I was one of those negative people because of who I associated with and who I listened to in my life as a kid/young adult. I’ve done some major work on myself and still have to remind myself to watch my words!
Have you ever looked back on an experience and thought “Man, I should have said/done *fill in the blank*!”? I’m the type of person who looks back on conversations I’ve had and think to myself, “Wow, did I come off as negative? I should have phrased that differently!”. I’m a work in progress. We all are. I can say that my life is drastically different because of how I choose to speak about my own life and my family’s lives. If you’re seeing things in a negative light all the time or always feel like bad things are attracted to you, you have to change your mindset. Let’s get rid of all of that negativity and get back to winning in our minds first. The more you speak something, the more you believe it and give yourself the confidence to accomplish any given task. Here are some tips before I introduce my favorite affirmations…
- Add them into your morning routine
- Add them before you do hard or difficult tasks
- It feels weird at first, keep going!
- Write them down… everywhere for you to see when you need them
- Record yourself saying them and listen to yourself say them daily
My favorite affirmations to speak over myself…
- I am a warrior chick!
- I am a good mother, wife, daughter, sister, and friend!
- I am enough!
- The work I do matters!
- I am more than capable of accomplishing anything I put my mind to.
- I am confident in my abilities!
- I am physically, mentally, and emotionally stronger every day!
- I am a role model to my kids, even when it feels I am failing.
- I am capable of being a good mom, good employee, loyal wife, and a successful blogger.
- I matter and I do not have to be perfect in every area of my life, only progressing.
None of us are perfect but as long as we are progressing in our mindset, nothing can defeat us. Keep your words at the forefront of your mind before they leave your lips. This will adjust the way you think and in turn adjust the way you react to situations you find yourself in. You can do this! You are capable of building yourself up first to then build up others. As always, comment, like, and follow! I’d love to hear your favorite affirmations and ways you speak victory over your lives!
Together, we rise!
